  1. There are many organizations which work with out HR department initially . It is only later that they realise the importance of the HR and hire HR consultants to sort out various HR related issues prevailing in thier organization. HR inculdes number of fuctions selection , rewards, development is just a part of it.
HR plays a key role in start up organization in expanding employee strength by formulating and implementing various HR strategies.

HR act as a catalyst in selecting , rewarding , and developing people to achieve organizations goals by following proper selection procedures, carrying out timely induction programmes and designing better reward system.

  2. Human Resources may be the most misunderstood of all corporate departments, but it's also the most necessary. Those who work in Human Resources are not only responsible for hiring and firing, they also handle contacting job references and administering employee benefits.
So in short the objective to enhance the Human resource capabilities of the organisation with employee satisfaction and reduction of employee turnover with maximum possible output to the organisation.
Due to the above function the importance is increasing day by day in corporates. The companies are really understanding the importance of HR as a real catalyst for the benefit of organisation.

  3. Again Human Resources is also a part of management. We (Myself & Rakesh) have seen in one organisation in Khopoli that HR head was acting purely for the benifit of employees and he has forgot the company's goal or his role as HR Manager in Factory. The results was that there were many employees who have never came to factory but still there attendance was marked everyday. The result today is that factory is shut down. I am not saying that HR is the only factor for closing down but it was one of the reason along with others which demotivated employees.

Other example is one of our client whose head office is in US and they are operating thru singapore. They have been awarded as BEST EMPLOYER AWARD in FORBES 500 LIST. You wonot believe the best managed office I have came accross without any human control. We are managing their account department and our person is sitting 365 days. When we have visited their Singapore office, their HR had asked us one question that whether your person has ever invited to lunch party carried out by their staff. This question is a very small question but this is been asked by HR Head of that organisation. The way they take care of their human resources is really an example.

Other Example from the same company, I heard from company head of that company, that when KARGIL was going on, they have received a call from Singapore Office saying that all the employee along with their family are having the option to sift to Singapore on company;s cost and till the time war is not over. You can imagine that KARGIL is in Kashmir and at 2000 KMS away from Mumbai. People sitting in Singapore (4000 KMS) were really worried about their Employees in India. They donot call their employees as a staff, they call associates whether he is a country head or a peon. Their Country Head is sitting on the same tables where other associates are sitting. So there is no Cabin provided to him because of the reason that he is a country head.

These few are the my experience as far as HR departments is concerned.

  4. Yes, certainly.HR is about selecting rewarding and developing people to achieve goals

But I would like to say that HR is also about selecting the right people, judging which type of people are suitable where, why, etc.
HR is also about creating discipline in the right fashion without hurting the staff/without tampering the organisational image.
HR is also about guidance, even upto the TOP people, TOP mgmt.
Basically, it's analysing and getting a correct judgment about an individual's psychology, not only jugement, but studying the same and acting accordingly. That's very important.

What else friends, all of you are much more experienced and knowledgeable.

    You all share.............

  5. HR is a vast term!! It is very difficult to define it in one word, people say that organization can run without HR dept. But now a day’s organizations are becoming more & more dependent on people. If the organization is growing, it will definitely go for advanced technologies, they are increasingly involved in more complex technologies and are functioning in more complex political environment. As a result, the organization faces shortages of the right kind of people. Human resources planning enables to get the right people at the right time to fill the right place.

So HR also includes Planning, Motivating, & managing the people etc...!!

The Objectives of the organization cannot be achieved without the required resources, which of course include people.

    Happy recruiting.......:-)

  9. It is often said that wealth of nation depends on quality of people

HR strategies whilst improving internal processes and procedures within a demanding environment, deadlines, budgets, technical issues and organizational change.

It is a study of people , like how people as individual and as group act with in the organization. It helps to develop individual personality and also organization

I think HR is not only recruitment, reward, development but also planning, motivating, organization behavior, training, leadership, industrial relation.
